Men’s Schwinn Dual Suspension Bike – 26″ (S-25) Reviews By Customers
I have been riding this bike through some very rough courses for months now. Admittedly, I’ve only been mountain biking for less than a year, but this bike can certainly TAKE SOME ABUSE! I ride with a friend of mine who has a “Specialized” 00 bike and his bike has had more problems than mine. He’s had to change the chain, fix the tires, adjust the shocks, etc. All I’VE had to do with mine is adjust the brakes (they got worn out) and spray the chain with some WD-40. I’d recommend this bike to those who are starting out Mountain Biking to see if they like it. If you already know you like Mountain Biking, skip this one and save up a little more for a Giant Yukon. I got this one at Walmart for 0. All in all, a worthy starter bike that can take some serious abuse. Check Special Price!
Not totally terrible for full suspension in this price range. – K. Mills –
I’ve just been test riding my new S-25 from Target. I’ve been mountain biking with a hard tail for about 5 yr. and this is my first time with full suspension. The degree to which it smooths out rough dirt and gravel roads, even at 15 – 20mph really exceeded my expectations. I would have liked to have a little more travel in the rear suspension: I was bottoming out on travel on only moderately rough roads, and I only weigh 170 lbs. The sound when the suspension bottoms out is also really annoying. They need some kind of polyurethane stop at the end of travel. I don’t like the fact that the seat is basically welded to the tube, so that you can’t replace it with a more comfortable one. You can’t even adjust the angle of the thing. I have some serious concerns about the durability of the Sram derailleur (the darned thing is PLASTIC). After adjustment, everything is shifting well for now. Only time will tell how long it holds up. My impression of overall quality is that Schwinn is not what it used to be.
